NSF OPAL – Reaching for the Brightest Light
Elizabeth Hill, Laboratory for Laser Energetics
Abstract
Bio
Elizabeth Hill is an optical engineer with almost two decades of experience in laser systems. She earned her BS in Optics from the University of Rochester in 2003 and her MS in Optical Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2006. Since then, she has been with the Laboratory for Laser Energetics at the University of Rochester, where she began her career helping build the OMEGA EP front-end system. She continued with the front-end team until 2018 supporting the operation, maintenance, and upgrades for both the OMEGA and OMEGA EP laser systems.
In 2018, Elizabeth became the group leader for the Laser Systems Project team in the Laser and Material Technology Division. In this role, she leads a team that specialized in the design, construction, and commissioning of mid-scale laser systems. She has taken on project leadership roles for projects such as the Fourth-generation Laser for Ultrabroadband eXperiments (FLUX), the compression laser for the MEC-U project at SLAC, and NSF OPAL.
