Felix Kim, Ovitz
Abstract
Felix will share the story of how he started Ovitz while he was still a student at UR and continued to grow the startup company. Felix will also talk about what is it like (pros and cons of) starting an optics startup in Rochester.
Ovitz is a startup founded and led by graduates from the Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester.
Ovitz provides vision-enhancing technology for specialty contact lenses, correcting for higher-order aberrations (HOA). Recent winner of the $1 million top prize in the Luminate NY competition, designed to support high-tech startups particularly those involved in optics.
About the speaker
Felix Kim is the founder and CEO of Ovitz. Felix earned his bachelor’s degree in Optics from the University of Rochester. As an undergraduate student, he worked for two years at the Flaum Eye Institute under the supervision of Geunyoung Yoon, PhD.
