Abstract
The goal of a patent strategy is to complement a business strategy. To get there, takes disciplined decision-making, based on a knowledgeable legal framework. Topics to be discussed will range from "Should I get patent?" to "How do I address risks of infringing others' patents?" The talk will include an emphasis on common misconceptions and pitfalls, and is intended for beginners and veterans ... inventors and entrepreneurs.
About the speaker
Mr. Powers has been practicing patent law for over 20 years. He has practiced patent law in Rochester and Boston, at law firms and in-house. He spent several years practicing at Bausch & Lomb, managing a large global patent portfolio. His formal training is in Electrical and Optical engineering. Prior to his legal career he worked several years as an optical design engineer. His current practice includes representing multinational corporations, mid-sized companies, as well as start-ups.
