Roman Space Telescope / L3Harris Precision Optics Tour

L3Harris Precision Optics and Supporting Members

About the tour:

On Monday Nov 14 from 1 to 5 pm ET, L3Harris Technologies invites you to participate in a facility tour highlighting the recent progress on the Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope optical telescope assembly; and/or the L3Harris Precision Optics Facility.

These are two separate tours at two separate facilities, a 10-minute drive apart.  You may tour one or other or both.  Expect a ~45 minute duration for each tour.  Tours are limited to the first 75 US Persons (Citizens or Green Card holders).

Tour #1: The Roman Space Telescope is a NASA observatory designed to settle essential questions in the areas of dark energy, exoplanets, and infrared astrophysics. The telescope’s primary mirror is 2.4 meters in diameter (7.9 feet) and is the same size as the Hubble Space Telescope's primary mirror, but one-fourth the weight. Tour groups will be taken through the L3Harris facility to see the telescope fabrication progress.

Tour #2: The L3Harris Precision Optics Facility has been producing exquisite spaceborne, ground-based, and high-energy optics for over 50 years. The Facility includes equipment for shaping, light-weighting, figuring and coating optics up to 3.5 meters in diameter.

To Register:

To attend Fill out and submit the Visit Authorization Form (PDF) to Judy Luciano (Judy.Luciano@L3Harris.com) no later than October 14th 2022.

By November 1st 2022, visitors will receive an email with facility maps, parking locations, directions from the airport and the precise timing of their tour(s).
